The software enhances efficiencies in the content development lifecycle by eliminating bottlenecks, which may occur when one person or department is responsible for updating a web site for an entire organization or company. The CAMP CMS software decentralizes the responsibility for web site content maintenance and upkeep.
Main Features
WYSIWYG Editor -
Powerful WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor for content contributors to have the flexibility to create content just like they do in word processing applications. With little or no training, authors can create the content just like in any other application. Users can also copy and paste directly from Microsoft Word.
100 % browser based – PC and MAC compatible –
The only client needed to access the application to create, edit, approve or publish content is an Internet browser. The current minimum required browser is Microsoft IE version 6.x or greater.

Built-in wizards to step users through the process of inserting links, images and tables. Easy to use, all point and click. Users also have the ability to incorporate YouTube videos or photo galleries.
Page level versioning
Undo mistakes, find out who made a particular change and preview your own changes without affecting other users. Users can rollback to an earlier version so you never have to lose your saved content again. Useful for seasonal content as well.
Flexible, dynamic navigation and menu control
Users can manage page content through a hierarchical tree view of the website structure, similar to the structure used by Microsoft Explorer. Easy to use, point and click ability to move pages and sections throughout the site.
Search Engine Friendly URLs
Front end web site utilizes search engine friendly and readable URLs for all pages within the site. Pages can be utilized as http://www.college.edu/admissions instead of http://www.college.edu/default.aspx?id=252. This type of URL will greatly enhance the readability and usability of pages within the site as well as optimize the pages and content for search engine optimization.
Content meta-data for improving search engine placement
Web page and file meta-data is stored in addition to actual content. This improves search engine placement utilizing relevant descriptions and keywords. This feature is also used for the included site search.
Full site vs “My Pages” view
Customizable view of web site so that users don’t have to wade through the entire site to find their pages or sections.
3 different Page Types (Content, Data or Form)
Users have the ability to select from 3 different page types for their pages.
- Content Page - A standard web page with content entered through the WYSIWYG editor.
- Data Page – A page that dynamically pulls data from any ODBC data source
- Form Page – A page with a simple HTML form for capturing information from the web site user and emailing the information to one or more email addresses.
Integrated with Google site search
All content and files are indexed and searchable through the front end web site via the Google search facility which can be acquired either for free or purchased separately for a nominal fee.
Spell checking capability
The CMS has built-in spell checking capability with a dictionary of over 100,000 words.
Reporting capability – content freshness and file use reports
These reports allow the administrator the ability to see which content has not been updated recently, or which content changes most often. Additionally, file usage reports helps identify which files are no longer in use on the web site.
Workflow control for content review and publishing with email notifications
Simple workflow is provided for authoring, reviewing and publishing web content for any number of authorized users. Additionally, e-mail notifications are sent to all users when actions are required or for documentation purposes. Any SMTP interface is utilized to send the appropriate mail notifications.
Granular content and template permissions
Complete control over page level access permissions. Users can be assigned or removed from a specific page or section of the web site with the click of the mouse. Additionally, template permissions cut down on the potential for errors in choosing the wrong template.
User administration and role based security architecture
System utilizes a role-based security architecture to manage security and permissions for the CMS. This insures that only users with the proper authorization can make changes or update controls where necessary. The CMS can also be configured to utilize LDAP integration for user authentication.
Robust media asset management
Ability to easily upload files for use within the web site. System is capable of handling all files types, including .jpg, .gif, .doc, .pdf, .mov, .rm, .asf, etc… Media files can be categorized into directories making it easier to separate and find. Additionally, .jpg images are automatically sized to fit within the web site’s framework.
Built in Section 508 and web accessibility features
Functionality has been added to support compliance with the accessibility guidelines of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998. Specific features are the built-in use of ALT tags and page linearization.
Page previewing features with Staging and Production environments
Users can quickly and easily view a page as it will appear when it is published to the website. Additionally, content is separated and stored in a staging environment, so most users can not directly affect the production web site (unless given authorization).
Design Template system to separate content from look & feel
Content is stored completely separate from the design templates, allowing for quick and easy ability to change the look and feel of web pages or the entire site without having to re-code the entire site or page.
Built in events calendar with locations and event types
Events calendar allows you to manage events on your web site. Events can be categorized by Event Location or Event Type. System also offers a separate event calendar search by date/time, location or type.
Built in news article/press release management module
News Article/Press release module allows you to manage your inventory of press releases and articles for your web site. Additionally, tools are available to include lists of latest articles in templates throughout the site. News articles can also be categorized by News types that you choose.
CSS Administration and Support
Manage the look and feel of the site by using the CSS standard. Administrators can change the font sizes and font face with a change to the CSS file.
Menuing Tools for creating separate menus – Jump Menu, News Ticker, Breadcrumbs
Custom controls allow you to insert specific menus and display controls in to your page to assist users with navigation or to highlight specific sections or pages of the web site.
Simple Forms Management
Simple forms management gives non-technical users the ability to create simple HTML forms within a page and to have the results e-mailed to one or more email addresses.
XML/XSLT Template Engine
The CMS has the ability to manage either internal or external (i.e. Twitter, Facebook) XML feeds. Additionally, the CMS provides the ability to transform these feeds utilizing standard XSLT. These feeds can then be used through the templates of the site. Two potential implementations are to control an XML based Flash module or to incorporate the top 5 twitter posts into the site easily.
Multiple Site/Domain capability
The CAMP CMS has the ability to manage multiple domains through one CMS interface. This can be used to manage an external site vs an intranet site. Another possibility is to manage multiple micro-sites that utilize a completely different look/feel and sitemap.
Photo Gallery Feature
The photo gallery feature allows you to create and organize multiple galleries with photos that you upload into the media module. The media module also allows you to upload batches of photos. The front end display will provide a lightbox presentation to scroll through the images. Additionally, the photo gallery feature is capable of integrating with Flickr to dynamically pull in photos and photo sets.
Password protected pages
The CAMP CMS can require authentication to access certain pages within a web site. An example would be an “Staff/Employee Only” area of the site.
Widgets, Social Media Tools
We provide the ability to build reusable content blocks for use throughout the site. This provides the ability to update in one place and re-use in multiple places on the web site.
Additionally, we can incorporate reusable Facebook or Twitter widgets in the templates for the site. These social media widgets would dynamically pull in the real time content from the designated feed.
Custom Tools, Applications, and APIs
The CAMP CMS is fully extensible and provides the ability for clients to develop their own .NET front end tools and back end applications and be fully integrated into the CMS. We provide an integrated framework for these applications and tools including customized .NET user controls and Master pages.
